                                    "GAMESTOP"

              "GENERAL PURPOSE AND KNOWLEDGE"

It's people who can so blindly support a business with blind faith that there best interest, being preserved is the key problem with today's media. movie makers, game developers, song writers and publishing houses have always wanted more money. We as a society always want more money regardless of what we do as people who fill that gap from our work place to our hobbies. We as customers are always wanting the better deal rather if it's gaming or other forms of entertainment. Being a customer through out the ages we have evolved  our mind setting to better suit our needs, rather it be from 8 bit games to fully 3d rendered game models.
We as gamer's have have been supporting any retail store that has our entertainment on there shelves. GameStop being the main game changer that we will be discussing in this blog. Why is it that we go to such a place where most of the help are uneducated people who are just as clueless as those that just got into gaming this generation? It's easy, availability and ease to access around almost every central towns shopping malls and strips. There midnight launches, where thousands of people sometimes line up and get the latest Blizzard title, or the newest Call of Duty. I am apart of millions of people who have shown support to GameStop by buying titles and attending these midnight launches. During the early years of GameStop we wished we had more of them based on this ease to use system that was fashioned for people who just want to stop in and pick up and go.
"GameStop employees should be more informed on the platforms they are pushing and the games that are on that platform."

It's this mind set that we must change in our game buying strategies. As the stores have expanded through out the US the staff being hired are of a more casual caliber then professionals. There management team have less then 2 years of gaming under there belt, and there knowledge of the games they sell are below standards of what they should be at. I am not saying they need to be super nerd to run a store, but as someone who worked retail for the majority of his life, I made it a priority to learn as much as I could about the merchandise that I was selling. General knowledge of product should be learned if not known before these people are even hired.

                 "EMPLOYEES OPENING NEW PRODUCT

AND STILL ABLE TO SELL IT FOR FULL PRICE"

I have no idea when this was a viable or a great business practice. This can be a perk for any GameStop employee who is looking for there next gaming fix. What does this mean for a customer like you and I ?  We get to pay 60 dollars for what possibly could be a scratched disk or one that has greasy finger prints all over it. Why is it as gamers we feel the need to take what we get and be happy with it. If we as gamers were to take this way of thinking into the rest of our lives we would be ripped off on our cars, houses, PCs or anything that require more then two neurons to operate or set up to buy. I can't stand that when I go to a GameStop and a brand new title is just released that something I bought was supposed to be sealed and yet it has a little round sticker on it keeping the case closed. As a former GameStop fan I can honestly say that I am done. I have a Diablo 3 collectors edition that was supposed to be pre ordered and yet to hear back from the manager who promised me one. As this blog will be me final thoughts on a business practice that equates that to a used car dealership that sells lemons for a living.

"The video below is a prime example of a GameStop employee being knowledgable"

This video just shows the general mind set of GameStop employees, if this guy worked for me in my studio and he presented himself in this manner, I would have fired him based off his display of professionalism or there lack of.

                              "LOOKING BACK NOW"

As I read this and look through all of what I have said. We as gamers need to wake up and be the change in this industry. My team and I will not be using GameStop to launch our first title. I would rather get my development cost back then have some kid pushing my product without knowing anything about it. Thank you for reading.

  1. Not every GameStop employee is feckless... perhaps the location of said gamestop is the problem... or maybe they should hire better employees... I've been to gamestops all over the US and a lot of them are very knowledgeable.
